The hospitals and sanitary centres are organizations
that must play an exemplary role in the control of tobacco consumption.
In order to make of the Institut Català d’Oncologia a
smoke-free assistance and labour space, an intervention model has been
designed which involves all the organization and that takes organization
factors into account, both group and individual, which promote and
strengthen behaviours of tobacco consumption control.
The project has been articulated as an institutional action agreed
by the different actors of the organization, combining the explicit
and public compromise of the management personnel and of the Unions
leaders with the active participation of the professionals from the
different Services and Units.
The first evaluation of the project shows positive results regarding
the fulfilling of the regulation of smoke-free space, together with
an increase in the consensus in the aforementioned politics as the
project grew more and more consolidated.
This model has been successfully implemented in other Catalan Hospitals,
showing its efficiency in making a hospital implement actions of tobacco
control. |
