The first academic day of resident doctors of ICO was celebrated on May 16th. This is the first time that a joint act is organized by the three centres to say goodbye to the last year’s MIR.
The ceremony took place in the assembly hall of the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, ICO’s see in Badalona. The opening speech was made by José Antonio Blanco, chairman of the teaching comission at the Germans Trias i Pujol, and Evarist Feliu, manager of ICO in Badalona. During the day, several cases of medical oncology, radiation-therapy oncology and haematology were presented, and they were evaluated by the residents of the three centres. Later on, Mr. Manel Esteller, manager of ICO’s Research Programme into Epigenetics and Cancer Biology gave a lecture titled ‘Molecular research into cancer: participate’.
ICO has a total of 47 resident doctors. 28 of them are at the centre in Hospitalet, 13 in Badalona and 6 at ICO in Girona. Out of these 47, 13 will finish this year their training stay in our institution.
