In the months of June and July we carried out the second edition
of the Training Programme during the Welcome to the new professionals
that have joined us and who started working in our Institute last
summer. This year there have been around thirty professionals who
joined ICO.
This programme is meant to welcome them, to guarantee the minimum
standard of knowledge to work with cancer patients and their relatives
and to offer a space where orientation and continuous support can
be found.
The programme, organized by the de Support and Evaluation Area of
the Nursing Practice (ASPI), lasts 8 hours in total and includes:

A de 3-hour session about ICO knowledge, rights and duties, work
tools (documents, protocols and circuits) and safety of the professional
(taught by Joan Bertomeu, doctor at Vigilància Salut)
•
A 1-hour guided visit around the ICO in l’Hospitalet - Hospital
Duran i Reynals
•
A 2-hour workshop on how to react in the face of a cardio-breathing
stop, taught by the Nursing Team of the REA in the HUB.
•
A seminar on the Evaluation of the Onco-haematologic Toxicity taught
by the nurse R. Azor.
•
A workshop on infusors.
The response of the professionals who attended it in the years
2005 and 2006 was highly positive and they considered the contents
very useful and applicable to their practice.
