The Institut Català d’Oncologia has a new
Director
Dr. Josep Maria Borràs has left his position as director
general of ICO, after 9 years working here. He will be substituted
by Dr. Joaquim Esperalba, executive director of ICO since 2005.
Dr. Josep Maria Borràs has a degree in Medicine and is
a specialist in public Health, epidemiology and prevention. He
leaves his position as director of ICO in order to occupy a new
one as director of the ‘Pla Director d’Oncologia
de Catalunya’ (Oncology Director Plan of Catalonia).
Dr. Joaquim Esperalba Iglesias, the new director general of
the Institut Català d’Oncologia, has a degree in
Medicine and surgery, and is a specialist in medical oncology
and hospital management. He has been medical director of the
Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau de Barcelona (1991-1995)
i mangerof the same centre (1995-2002).
This change in the ICO direction has occurred this month of May.
