It is a non-profitable
public company, created in March 1995 and member
of the Servei Català de la Salut (Catalan Health Service).
The Institute is a
Centre of Integral Oncology Assistance, which, according
to international tendency, integrates in only one organization all
the elements and the efforts to fight effectively and efficiently against
cancer.
The Institute is a
centre highly specialized and advanced in
oncology which offers in a coordinated way: diagnostic, treatment, prevention,
research, and training. It has an area of hospitalization and several
areas of therapeutic services to carry out its assisting activity.
The objectives of the Institute are determined by its Statutes, published
in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya on 7th. February
1995. The Institute is directed by an Administration Board made up
by twelve members and presided by the General Director of Sanitary
Resources of the Departament de Sanitat i Seguretat Social.
